The One Word Inspiration series is a guest post series on Clear the Way which asks different visiting bloggers to share whatever they are inspired to share when they hear only one word. The word changes each month and today Melinda from Rich Details is here to share her inspiration from the word amplified.
The first thing that comes to mind? Let’s get LOUD!! Only I’m not a loud person, more of a quiet one actually. Not in the extreme sense, just that I hate being the centre of attention. Sometimes I wish I was louder and less boring but I’m learning to accept the fact that I like to keep my thoughts to myself as opposed to letting the world know what’s on my mind. Of course this doesn’t mean I have nothing to say, I have my own blog so obviously I have plenty to say :)
I have an appetite for positivity, inspiration and aspire to be smiling as often as possible. This is what I want to share with others. So is it possible to amplify my voice if I don’t like being loud?
Amplify is a verb; a doing word. Something you do to increase the volume, boost, raise, magnify, escalate, swell or heighten. Add detail to, expand, elaborate, develop, supplement or reinforce. And it dawns on me that I have the ability to apply all of these actions to my message….
I have spent plenty of time wondering about the benefits of social media (I have two teenage children). We live in an age where the internet dominates our lives and offers an extensive choice of social platforms where we can all be heard. Of course I can amplify my voice without speaking a word. I can boost my message at the touch of a button, raise discussion, magnify my content by elaborating on the details. I can supplement with images and reinforce with results, escalate the frequency and shout exponentially like never before. Being relatively new to this digital world and often overwhelmed and confused, it is refreshing to realise the benefits it can bring. It is exciting and terrifying all at the same time. It comes with its haters but how lucky are we really? The world seems that much bigger yet smaller at the same time.
No longer do us shy souls have to sit quietly in the background if we are not born with the ability to be verbally loud. We can choose our audience, build relationships, collaborate, collect and discuss. Amplify is an inspiring word! I will amplify my voice, magnify my dreams and get loud in the hope that happiness is contagious……..and you can too!
I am Melinda Rich, an interior designer/stylist, blogger and occasional painter trading as Rich Details. My goal is simple; to provide a resource to help you create a space you love coming home to. I am a great believer in the fact that our surroundings influence our mood and I am wild about inspiring others to create a home that brings them happiness, peace and pride. I love images and my very favourite pastime is to hum over a set of floor plans and dream up a concept for how that space should look and feel. My other loves include Aussie summers, good books, a painting project and casual everything.
