Don’t live in the rat-race, narrow-minded poverty mentality that tells you there is “only so much to go around” and that “if someone else has something, you can’t also have it.” I prefer the feminist “both-and” mentality that is more realistic and truthful. The “both-and” mentality is based on the idea that people are multi-faceted and that life is complex. And we are not all in competition with each other. Some women feel intimidated by the beauty of other women, as if they can not accept their personal beauty if someone else is also being beautiful. You need to remind yourself that both she can be beautiful and you can be beautiful. What other people do and say doesn’t change who you are. Make space for others to be themselves, and love yourself securely in a way that keeps you from feeling intimated by others’ good traits.
