I’m back from a speedy trip through Boston, Nice, Vernazza, Rome, and Zürich and it feels really good to sit down and write a post to share with you guys what I have been thinking about lately. As many of you may know now, I started a creative business that launched at the end of March right before I left for this trip. I am thrilled with the excitement that Clear Creative Consulting has already generated, but I am still in the first baby steps of growing my business. Those who have grown a business before know: it takes a lot of time and effort. I knew that, in pursuing Clear Creative Consulting, making some changes to Clear the Way would be inevitable.
I now run two blogs and two sets of social media accounts, am currently working on three clients’ visual branding, wrapping up the task list for my Personal Branding Strategy course, and forming a productive workflow that will allow me to manage all this as efficiently and as easily as possible.
When I started Clear the Way, it was all about fashion. After a couple years, I eventually began phasing out the fashion in favor of personal posts and Clear the Way developed into a lifestyle blog. Writing personal posts feeds a part of my heart that loves sharing my identity with others as I build and grow it, but it was challenging to keep up with because I had a full-time job and it’s not as easy to schedule personal posts ahead of time as it is for other posts on the blog. To manage my work/life balance, I’ve relied heavily on the amazing contributions from my guest posters. The writers who have opened their hearts up and shared their souls in my One Word Inspiration series and the brave women sharing their journeys through feminism in my How Do You Deal and Everyday Feminism series have become a large part of the Clear the Way community. It has been an exciting experiment for me, coming from fear of accepting a guest poster to being the chief organizer of a thriving guest posting community.
So what are the changes?
Don’t worry, the aforementioned series aren’t going anywhere. Instead, I am committing to these series in a new way in order to open up Clear the Way to an easier-to-manage schedule. I will, however, be dropping the Spaces and Home Décor series. I can’t promise you will never see a home space inspiration post or a round-up of my favorite home decorating objects, but I will no longer be committed to blogging about these consistently. While I continue to be inspired by beautiful homes, these posts have begun to feel like interruptions. I have also combined the Trends and Trend-Inspired Looks categories. This means you’ll get a monthly dose of my fashion sense, but they won’t be split into two separate posts.
With this new schedule, you can expect to hear a lot more from me personally on what I’ve been doing, thinking, and feeling. I will share my journey in entrepreneurship and business building. I will share some “out of category” things I love, just for the hell of it. I will hopefully breath a new life into this project of mine so that it becomes more closely-connected with me and better-integrated into my new lifestyle.
Thanks, Dear Readers, for being along for the ride.
