Today’s Spaces post is a guest post from Dianna who runs Our Sweetened Life. You might remember I did a bathroom inspiration post on her blog at the beginning of this month. She’s got great taste for home décor so I just had to have her blog for me on Clear the Way. When she suggested sharing a post of wallpaper inspiration, I was really excited. I had been meaning to do a wallpaper round-up for months but never remembered to actually get to it. So here Dianna is, making my life easy and making your eyeballs happy with her great picks.
Hello Clear the Way readers! I’m Dianna, over at Our Sweetened Life, and I’m thrilled to be here on Kate’s awesome blog! Today I wanted to bring you some inspiring ideas for using wallpaper in your home–both on and off the wall. So here you have four for four. Four fabulous ideas for designer wallpaper, floral, geometric and off the wall ideas. It may seem intimidating initially because it’s such a commitment, but falling in love with a wallpaper design is very much like falling in love with a paint color or even a home. But its better because there is so much more to wallpaper! I didn’t think I was a wallpaper person until I found the right designs and realized that it’s not what it used to be! The diversity and availability of wallpaper has exploded in recent years and designs are appealing now more than ever.
Designer – My absolute favorite wallpaper designers are shown below. The forest and half moon designs would be perfect fits for a child’s bedroom. Oh Joy’s floral and the Chochin are probably my favorite all time designs and I would personally love to use them in an office space.
Floral – It’s not news that floral patterns have made quite the comeback. We are seeing them in both fashion and home decor. They make for great accent pillows, but they also make great wallpaper patterns that can successfully complete a room. Floral patterns can be bold, so I would suggest using them as an accent and paper only one wall in a room or paper half a wall. They would also look wonderful in a kitchen shown between your cabinetry and appliances!
Geometric – These fun and diverse patterns will transform any room in your home. If you are looking for a modern backdrop to a room, consider one of these designs. Going retro is very fun and trendy right now and are perfect for kitchens and dining rooms. I love the idea of the gradient color change in the simple scalloped design below. Geometric designs would also be great to use on the ceiling…talk about unexpected use of patterns in the home!
Off the Wall – Not ready to commit to wallpapering an entire room? Do you love DIY projects? You can still utilize these beautiful patterns! Consider using wallpaper in small rooms such as a closet or pantry (they pack an amazing punch), or to up cycle your furniture. A little bit can really go a long way. I love the wallpapered dresser as an idea for a teenagers room. You can even change out wallpaper designs (think seasonally, and this is great if you like to change things up often in your home). You can use easily removable paper on a coffee table or on the back of a bookshelf to bring some life to your room in a unique way.
I hope you are inspired to take leap and wallpaper a space in your home or perhaps you now have a new DIY project on your list! Come back and let us know what you came up with! Thanks again Kate for the opportunity to be on your awesome space.
