The 12 Lists series is a monthly list-making series I created along with my sister, Gillian from Chez Gillian, for those who love writing lists like I do. Each month we announce the topic, write our lists accordingly, and invite you to do the same on your blog. You are welcome to add your post to the link-up below so we can get to know you a little better, one list at a time. This month’s topic is simple: thoughts we’ve been having lately.
Sensitivity – I have been revisiting the idea of differences in sensitivity (to surroundings, noises, emotions, etc.) and reading a lot about highly sensitive people. It’s interesting for me to see how this trait has affected me in the past and how it influences my life today. I have been thinking of ways to accept my high sensitivity by honoring myself and loving who I am along with exploring ways I can adapt to others around me.
Rest – Summer break has been so wonderful, but I’m also learning I need to think about what options I choose during this time of rest. I have been reconnecting with old friends, visiting the new SFMOMA a lot, and sleeping in. Unfortunately, sleeping in is addictive and I know I ultimately feel more well-rested when sticking to my usual routine which gets me up earlier in the morning. I’m thinking of ways to introduce a restful schedule to my life that will allow me to enjoy my break without losing all the structure I am used to.
Blogging – I have had many thoughts about blogging in the last year, many I never thought I would have. In a lot of ways, I am feeling jaded when it comes to blogging. It has been such a special hobby and overall wonderful form of expression over the past many years, but it also feels a little empty at the moment. Pouring myself into my academic career has caused me to rethink where I spend my energy, and that includes blogging.
The Future – I’m a planner and a dreamer, so I’m pretty much always thinking ahead. I’m gearing up for grad school applications at the end of this year and a potential move in the middle of the next year. I am also contemplating what changes I would need to make in order to revitalize my relationship with Clear the Way and a number of other creative outlets in my life (namely, music). In all, thinking about the future is both a constant pull and an opportunity for me to relearn (over and over) to live in the current moment.
So tell me, what have you been thinking about lately?
