A good friend of mine shared with me this idea of an “Every Damn Day List” that she got from Sarah at Yes and Yes. It was helpful to me since the last year was a rough one. I was unemployed and searching endlessly for the perfect job while maintaining (with a struggle, at times) to keep my blog going, my whole health intact, and my hopes up. I had to remind myself to do certain things every day besides applying for work and dedicating myself to the work I had: this blog.
I had a dream a few nights ago where I believed I was hibernating without supplies. I awoke and realized the dream was spiritual. It represented the past year and God promised me that 2013 was different. He said I was incubating. It was dry and I was kept in the dark, but something was growing… Things have been lining up and getting set in place. I have no idea what is going to hatch but um—yes, please to change.
This year, I can’t plan ahead for what’s coming. I’m a huge planner, but I’ve learned that plans don’t always work out and that sometimes other plans are way better. (Oh my gosh, hey, it’s like I’m in my twenties or something.) While I wait for 2014 to unfold, I can’t help but plan a little bit. Instead of a huge, super-defined list of resolutions, I’ve decided to make my own list for every day that I can follow. Every day may look different and every day I might do these things differently, and I’ll certainly change along the way. But this is my list for 2014 and I’m excited about it! Over this next week I will go into more details about each part of this list. I’m also going to get into why I’m not doing the whole “lose weight” or “exercise more” thing. Those things aren’t always wrong, but they often bring a whole lot of shame and harm along with them.
I won’t be getting into that just yet, though. I can’t wait to hear your resolutions, even if they are “lose weight” and “exercise more.” Tell me, what is it that you are going to do this year, different from last year, that will better you and strengthen you? I can’t wait to hear, so share away!
